Man refused bail over rocket launcher charges, discrepancies? |
Current rating: 0 |

Peter Debnam is also a 'chip off' the old neo-liberal rocket launcher 'war criminal', block, John Howard, who has a very good reason to hype up and generate fear in the community for an illegal and degrading war in Iraq. Sinister? |

A Sydney man charged with supplying stolen rocket launchers has been denied bail.
Taha Abdul Rahman, 28, was arrested last week and charged with 17 offences relating to seven rocket launchers allegedly stolen from the Australian Defence Force. But only one rocket launcher was said to be recovered by police.
His wife, Belinda Rahman, today gave evidence at his bail hearing, telling Sydney's Central Local Court that her husband was responsible for looking after their two children while she works full-time.
History:
It all started when back in 2002 at the height of a feud between two Lebanese families in Sydney's south-west or did it? When the police found one rocket launcher. The report said a crime family of Middle Eastern background in south-west Sydney had imported the weapons, at the height of a drug turf war against a rival family.
No mention of whether it was a used or not? Like a once only firing device like the one recently found on Yeppoon tip in QLD. So was the one police found in 2002, like the $2.00 one purchased at the tip in Yeppoon, used or not?
According to the report both families had been increasing their arsenals during the bloody feud, but one family had gone one step further and obtained the RPGs, the report said. So where were the rest of them or where are they now?
Does anyone have a receipt for the stolen goods from the ADF and did the military report the stolen military hardware in 2002?
And what investigations did police carry out from 2002, after finding one and 2003, when Peter Debnam reported it until nearly 2007? What do the records show about the informer?
Did the police contact the Australian War Force, the ADF? If not why not?
Then three years after reporting to police.... in November 2006, in a Melbourne Age article, NSW Liberal opposition leader Peter Debnam said he had passed on the information to the then police Minister John Watkins and Police Commissioner Ken Moroney, a year after the original finding in 2002, 'three years ago' that "he had learned from the streets of Sydney that the Russian-made weapons, favoured by terrorists to destroy vehicles, were being offered for sale at $10,000 each."
"In the hope they might act on it." Well did they?
And where did he learn this? Shouldn't he have provided his source to the police back then and now as Opposition leader? Did any member of NSW parliament question the source of the information back then and now?
The reason I ask is that he was the tip-off then and seemingly the tip-off now!
Peter Debnam is also a 'chip off' the old neo-liberal rocket launcher 'war criminal', block, John Howard, who has a very good reason to hype up and generate fear in the community for an illegal and degrading war in Iraq.
With I might add a very long..... list of scapegoats in custody some who have not been tried.
On 5 November 2006, it was reported by the Melbourne Age that a Sydney underworld family might have illegally imported up to 20 of the RPGs four years ago.
Debnam: "The RPGs were reportedly smuggled into Australia through a Middle Eastern contact and are now said to be up for sale for up to $50,000 each."
Once again shouldn't the source be provided by Peter Debnam seen as how the police said they just happened to managed to purchase one off Rahman for $50,000? Exactly what Peter Debnam said they were being sold for and as far as the observer is concerned, him too being the source of that information on 5 November 2006, and the original information back in 2003.
Does Peter Debnam know someone we don't or someone we should know about? Does he have any links to any xenophobic rocket launchers?
Xenophobic rocket launcher's that need more excuses to send more troops into another bloody battle in some far off illegal and degrading war?
NSW Assistant Commissioner Nick Kaldas had said on 5 November 2006, according to the Melbourne Age "that the matter was under investigation, but Australians were not in immediate danger". Three years after the fact of Debnam allegedly reporting the matter to the police in 2003?
Nick Kaldas said, "We need to go through the investigation before we can actually say definitively whether the stuff is here or not," he told reporters."
So three years later nothing had been found until Peter Debnam said they were available now on the streets of Sydney for $50,000 dollars each. Why did it take police so long?
Debnam said, "the launchers in today's reports 5 November 2006," are exactly the same rocket launchers he was speaking about three years ago."
"My understanding was these weapons were available three years ago. It was clearly part of a criminal gang war then," Mr Debnam told reporters.
"Obviously these weapons haven't yet been used, and my understanding is they are still available."
So he's tied the rocket launcher found in 2002 with the one police say they just bought of the streets of Sydney now?
Police Minister John Watkins had earlier reported that it is worrying and may mean an urgent overhaul of Commonwealth border security is needed.
Watkins: "The only place this equipment came from is overseas," he said.
Watkins: "It either came in one container or in a number, depending on what equipment is out there.
Subsequently, on 5 January, 2007 police in New South Wales arrested Taha Abdul Rahman over his alleged involvement in the theft of seven rocket launchers.
And as a bonus it is alleged the 28-year-old passed on five of the rocket launchers to a man who is currently facing terrorism charges.
http://www.abc.net.au/news/newsitems/200701/s1822036.htm
A very unbelievable story if you ask me. But you can bet your life it is a secret. And how convenient was that? Then to top it all off we have admissions four years later from the Australian War Force?
On December 15 2006, Army chief, Lieutenant General Peter Leahy, was said to be tight-lipped on rocket launcher theft reports and now there are claims other rocket launchers may have been stolen from the Army.
http://www.abc.net.au/news/newsitems/200612/s1812449.htm
So in reality this story has moved in context completely from a dispute with a Sydney crime gang in 2002, during a drug turf war against a rival family, whereby a rocket launcher was found, used or unused, we don't know? That was alleged to have been imported from Russia. Then a report from Peter Debnam a year later with a price on the street of $10,000 from some source? No outcome or arrest by any police investigation by the police up until Opposition leader Peter Debnam reports the matter to the media in 2006. Whereby the police minister makes admissions immediately that they must have come from overseas and that boarder security needs to be tightened? So clearly had no information on 5 November 2006, about where the rocket launcher would have come from?
Now we change the context to: Police purchasing a rocket launcher off Rahman whereby it is alleged he sold 5 to a scapegoat already in custody? This would also give the very weak case against the alleged terrorist in custody more alleged evidence to prosecute him as a terrorist.
Mr Rahman's barrister, William Brewer, argued there was a danger that the provisions of the act pertaining to the case would get lost in the hysteria surrounding the subject of rocket launchers.
But Magistrate Allan Moore refused to grant bail, saying he was concerned about allegations Abdul Rahman had the capacity to source weapons of this nature and move them on to the criminal element.
The accused will reappear in court next month.
Source: http://www.abc.net.au/news/newsitems/200701/s1824652.htm
But questions need to asked about opposition leader Peter Debnam and the source of his information and what that had to do with the arrest of the accused Abdul Rahman some four years after it was alleged by police that they had found a single rocket launcher fired or unfired in 2002.
Questions also need to be asked about the NSW police investigation up until Oppostion Peter Debnams statement in the Melbourne Age article on 5 November 2006.
Because in my view this has been a total set-up and for the general public to have a full understanding they need to look very closely at this sham!

Given the High Commissioner’s role and the reference to “high places,” there is every indication that the Australian government sanctioned these abuses. Doubtful justice in Lodhi sentencing
In Lodhi’s case, this has meant that the threshold of what constitutes “beyond reasonable doubt” has been lowered to an alarming degree. Justice and civil rights are the victims of this “war on terror” in which the government and security agencies benefit politically from convicting supposed terrorists. It is likely that Lodhi’s conviction and sentencing demonstrates, as in the Thomas case, that terror laws are being used to jail people who are not terrorists.

The defence lawyers for Melbourne's 13 terrorism suspects have accused the prosecution of playing dirty tricks.
The prosecution today played a taped conversation between defendants Shoue Hammoud and Bassam Raad in which the prosecution alleges Raad suggests the authorities that put other members of their group in jail need to be slaughtered.

A dangerous precedent: Australian man convicted of “preparing terrorism”
Since 2001, the government has seized upon the “war” declared by US President George Bush for both domestic and international purposes. Under the guise of combating terrorism it has participated in the invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq, diverted attention from mounting economic and social problems at home and legitimised previously unthinkable police state-style measures, including semi-secret trials, “preventative” detention and the ability to impose life sentences without any evidence of an actual terrorist act.

Secret evidence used in Australian “terrorist” trial
Lodhi was bundled into the court building in shackles, in full view of the media. The display was intended to convey the impression that he is a violent and highly dangerous individual. Like several other Muslim men charged with terrorist offences in Australia over the past year, Lodhi has been denied bail and held in virtual solitary confinement in a “super max” prison, cut off from family and friends. Under state and federal “counter-terrorism” laws, the traditional presumption in favour of bail has been scrapped. It will only be granted in “exceptional circumstances”. On receiving a confidential affidavit from the Commonwealth, Magistrate Michael Price imposed a number of secrecy orders despite vigorous objections by lawyers for Lodhi and by media organisations. The orders mean that the affidavit itself will remain suppressed, and the media is barred from disclosing even the general nature of the material relied upon in it.

It has been previously reported that he is facing nine charges and is accused of planning a major terrorist attack on Sydney defence sites and the electricity grid using downloads off the internet and having 100 rolls of toilet paper to wipe his arse after low level bombs and farts. Shit!

Houses raided over 'possible' political attack plans?
"Furthermore, nothing is reasonable about a raid on people's homes because for an alleged possibility. For those sorts of enquiries one should approach a 'soothsayer' and if you get the all clear only then should they approach people via the front door with the appropriate warrant to search one's home. A warrant based on concrete evidence that has been filtered by a juge or magistrate of the court to see whether the material is frivolous or vexatious."

Australia's Terrorism Wake Up Call [164]
The horrific bombings of the Sari Club and Paddy's Bar in Bali, on October 12, 2002, considerably strengthened the hand of the CoW in pursuing the War on Terror. Here was an opportunity to harden the hearts of the Australian and US public against Islamic fundamentalists. It was also a chance for the Indonesian government to justify harsh measures in the war against terrorists and secessionists, such at those in the province of Aceh.

Parliament 'target' of rocket launchers
A terror suspect who allegedly bought five stolen army rocket launchers said he would use them to blow up "the nuclear place" and Parliament House, a Sydney court has been told.
[By who? The AFP? or the accused?]
It is alleged the man, Mohammad Ali Elomar, was later seen near Sydney's Lucas Heights nuclear reactor, where an access lock for a gate to a nearby reservoir had recently been cut.
[By who? The AFP?]
The claims were contained in a police statement tendered to Central Local Court, where Taha Abdul Rahman - the man accused of selling the rocket launchers - was today refused bail.
Abdul Rahman, 28, from Leumeah, in Sydney's south-west, faces 17 charges related to the possession and supply of seven rocket launchers allegedly stolen from the Australian Defence Force.
The statement did not detail how Abdul Rahman allegedly acquired the weapons.
But according to the statement, he sold five rocket launchers to Elomar through an associate, Adnan Darwiche, who was last year jailed for life for double murder.
[By who? The AFP?]
Elomar, 41, of Bankstown, is one of nine Sydney men charged in late 2005 with conspiring to make explosives in preparation for a terrorist attack.
[By who? The AFP?]
Abdul Rahman allegedly sold Darwiche a rocket launcher on September 30, 2003 for $15,000, and on October 9 sold him six more for $70,000.
[By who? The AFP?]
Darwiche said Elomar had given him most of the $70,000 to buy five rocket launchers on his behalf, the statement said.
[By who? The AFP?]
Prior to the purchase, Elomar allegedly commented: "Look what is happening overseas. It is a war against Muslims. We should do something about it over here."
[By who? The AFP?]
According to the police statement, a source claimed Elomar was "elated he had received the rocket launchers".
"Elomar first joked that he would use them to blow up Parliament House and later more seriously said, 'I am going to blow up the nuclear place'," the statement alleged.
[By who? The AFP?]
On December 28, 2004, Elomar and two co-accused were allegedly seen near the Lucas Heights reactor, each later giving differing versions of their activities to police.
[By who? The AFP?]
Elomar and the eight other terror suspects are still before the courts.
[Because of who? The war criminal John Howard and the AFP?]
Darwiche was one of three men convicted of shooting dead two people at a Greenacre home in October 2003, during a feud with another family.
[Totally different matter and as usual anyone in a NSW Jail is subject to inferences by the authorites that they can't defend, just take the case of Ivan Milat who is accused of every crime in NSW on a public road!]
[Unpopular people are easy to accuse!]
The court was told the killers dismissed using the rocket launcher on that occasion, as they believed the warhead could pass through the fibro house without exploding.
[By who? The AFP?]
Abdul Rahman was arrested last week following a lengthy investigation by Strike Force Ridgecrop, established by NSW and federal police to probe the possession and supply of rocket launchers.

Police have recovered one of the launchers after cutting a deal with Sydney underworld figure Adnan Darwiche, who is serving a double life sentence for murder.
[Time off for good behaviour?]
But the focus of the police investigation is now on how the weapons were moved from the army to the Rebels, Mr Abdulrahman and then into the hands of a potential terrorist cell.
[Ask Johh Howard and Peter Debnam]
Mr Abdulrahman is accused of knowing several of the 23 terror suspects arrested in Sydney and Melbourne in late 2005 during the nation's biggest counter-terrorism sweep, known as Operation Pendennis.
But how he may be allegedly linked to the Rebels bikie gang is still being investigated.
The AFP yesterday declined to comment.

THE revelation that stolen military weapons have found their way into the hands of people alleged to be home-grown terrorists is a frightening development in a long-running scandal.
As far back as 1997, a special task force was established to investigate the theft of hundreds of high-powered military weapons, ammunition, high explosives and rocket-propelled grenades.
That some of the RPGs are now surfacing in the context of counter-terrorism operations is a major security concern.
According to former Australian Federal Police agent Peter Smythe, who was an investigator on the Inspector-General's inquiry that led to a major investigation known as Operation Majorca, the lack of criminal charges or weapons recovery is due to high-level corruption.
Smythe has written a book, The Wrong Arm of the Law, about his investigations into the theft of weapons and what he says is the scandal over the fatal fire on board HMAS Westralia.
