Zaky Mallah not guilty
of planning terror attack,
but guilty of getting angry
because he'd been treated
differently. Not fair!
A Sydney man has been found not guilty of preparing for a terrorist attack on a Commonwealth building.
Twenty-one-year old Zaky Mallah was accused of planning a suicide attack on a Sydney building in late 2003 but a Supreme Court jury has found him not guilty of two counts of planning for a terrorist attack.
During his trial Mr Mallah's defence counsel said he was only trying to sustain the media spotlight when he sold details of his plans to an undercover officer posing as a journalist.
During the trial, Mr Mallah pleaded guilty to another charge of threatening a Commonwealth official.
That charge carries a maximum sentence of seven years in jail and the 21-year-old will face a sentencing hearing next week.
Ed: Let him go and give him his wisdom and his passport like everybody else who's free!

ZAK MALLAH: Australia is my country. I'm an Australian before I say I'm a Lebanese because I was raised here all my life, I was born here, I'm an Australian. So if someone wants to ask me, "Zak, what are you?" I say "I'm an Australian brother".
